Happy Easter!!
We've gotten a bit behind in our blogging, so here comes the first in a few updates over the next few days or so. (Inshallah!)
My 6th form class had an English program a couple weeks ago. My counterpart Gulnaz, another English teacher and I helped prepare the students for a 45 minute presentation done all in English (aside from my speech in Azeri!). They did a play about paper, a play about an old lady, a play about Cinderella and sang five American songs - River by Bill Staines, Bingo, You Are My Sunshine, Hush Little Baby, and Farmer in the Dell. There was also lots of information about the English langauge and English speaking countries. It was a lot of fun to prepare with them. They are my favorite class and work with most of them in other clubs outside school.
Here are some of them getting final makeup on. Sema is putting purple eye shadow and a mole on Gulnay who played one of Cinderella's wicked step sisters.
Here is Sabina telling about the United States of America. They also had a presentation on the UK, Azerbaijan and Africa.
Sabina and Nubar in the Dirty Paper skit. It was great!
Zarah is the Fairy Godmother giving Vasila's Cinderella her new beautiful clothes.
Here's the whole cast, me and Gulnaz. It was a fun day! All the volunteers in Mingechevir came to watch. The Mingechevir TV station came and there was a 5 minute segment on the nightly news. I didn't get to see it, but I heard all us PCVs were on it, even some of my speech! :/ At least now I can say I've been on MTV. :)

Welcome, Antonio!

Our lovely little nephew was born Tuesday the 5th at 5:27pm. But for us he was born on the 6th, so that's his birthday to us. He is 8 pounds, 3 ounces and 20 inches. Isn't he wonderful? We are so excited to meet him! Congratulations, Heather, Erik and Antonio!
